Methods of Sterilization

Dry Heat Sterilization

Procedure: Keep forceps in a dry heat sterilizer 160-170°C for 1-2 hours.

Prep: Sterilize the forceps by polishing with a clean, dry hot sterilizer.

Chemical Sterilization

How it is done: Dip the forceps in a 2% glutaraldehyde solution for the copy time (mostly from 10 to 30 minutes).

Preparation before use: Post reconstitution wash with sterile water for several times.

Ethylene Oxide Sterilization

Process: Forceps are placed in an airtight chamber with ethylene oxide gas. 

This method of requires particular conditions and time (usually a number of hours).
