A heavy-duty variation of the lower anterior forceps, designed for the extraction of mandibular anterior teeth and roots that are particularly tenacious or have hypercementosis. The American pattern #37 features a robust pistol-grip handle and stronger, slightly broader beaks than the #36, providing additional leverage and grip strength for difficult extractions in the anterior mandible.
Extraction of mandibular incisors and canines with strong, thick roots.
Removal of root fragments where a standard anterior forceps (#14, #36) lacks sufficient grip or strength.
Useful for teeth with bulbous or irregular root anatomy.
Provides a more powerful option for lower anterior extractions without resorting to a less-adapted molar forceps.
